LONG BEACH, Miss. (WLOX) - Military banners are back on display in Long Beach just in time for Memorial Day.

The Military Heroes Banner Program is a fundraising project for the Carnival Association of Long Beach.

Each banner features a photo of a brave veteran, their branch, when they served, and who sponsored the acknowledgment.

“It just gives families a way to honor past veterans that are in your family, or active duty, or deceased. It’s a great opportunity to really celebrate our military. We are a military area all along the Gulf Coast and we really want to celebrate and let them know how much they are appreciated,” Jennifer Glenn said, who is the past president and now secretary of the Carnival Association.

The Carnival Association has been hanging banners since 2018. The banners go up for Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Veterans Day.

Family members or friends can contact the Carnival Association of Long Beach to purchase a banner, for a one-time fee of $150.

“Our deadline for the July 4th banners is June 11, but if they wanted to get in line for Veterans Day, we’re constantly rotating them out. If your loved one doesn’t make it for July 4th, which, the city is having a big July 4th celebration, it will definitely be out for Veterans Day where we’ll have another big celebration,” Glenn said.

Jeff Davis Avenue and the town green in downtown Long Beach are where family members and loved ones can find all of the banners.
