BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Jeepin the Coast is in full swing this weekend, with Jeep owners from around the country cruising up and down South Mississippi.
Something you’ve probably seen on the dashboards of the thousands of Jeeps are rubber ducks — but you may not know why or what the duck is all about.
It all started back in 2020 with Allison Parliament in Ontario giving a Jeep owner a rubber duck as a random act of kindness.
It serves as a way for Jeep owners to grow as a community and say they like each other’s Jeeps.
What started as that small act has grown into something much bigger.

”I think she [Allison] was having a bad day and had a duck with her and left it on a Jeep Wrangler,” said Melissa Bourgeois of P-Town Jeepers. “Her act of kindness inspired all of this.”
“It means a lot,” said Lindsay Knoepfler of Mobile. “It shows there is a community out there that appreciates not just Jeep owners but even our little ones.”
Jeep owners we spoke to say the ducks make the Jeep community feel more like a family wherever they go.
