BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (WLOX) - Michelle Beauregard is the owner of Beachside Bistro in Bay St. Louis.

She said business has been good since she opened earlier this summer.

“It has been a whirlwind but totally worth it,” Beauregard said.

Beauregard opened as a small kitchen in 2021, and she said she’s living the dream now in a big restaurant-- serving burgers, mac and cheese waffles and pastries.

She said there’s one dish she favors most.

“The scallops and risotto that we serve at night,” Beauregard said. “We get fresh scallops 24 hours off the boat from the Chesapeake Bay, and they are divine.”

She also said the community has shown them love. Bay St. Louis resident Ronald Artigues said he visits several times a week.

“It’s very good, always fabulous and consistent,” Artigues said.

On Beach Boulevard, there’s a bar and grill taking shape called Lemoine’s Landing.

Lemoine’s Landing, set to open in September, is the newest offering from owners of long-time Bay favorite Dan B’s right next door. Bay St. Louis zoning administrator Jeremy Burke says food options in the city are growing.

“Bay St. Louis is a hot market,” Burke said. “Most of our restaurants are not franchised. They’re locally owned, and that really puts money back in our community.”

A taco stand called Barracuda is set to take over the former location of the old Butter Cup on Second Street.

Barracuda is a Louisiana-based restaurant with three locations. This will be the first in Mississippi.

“Bay St. Louis is booming... It’s been booming for a few years. One of the things that Bay St. Louis does well is they support locals,” Burke said. “It’s not about eating at chain restaurants here or there, it’s about eating local and supporting local businesses and local economy.”
