OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WLOX) - The highly-anticipated Mississippi Songwriters Festival kicks off Thursday and lasts through Sunday- bringing more than 100 talented Mississippi artists together on the Coast.
From a hall of fame induction ceremony to workshops and dozens of free live performances, the four-day event appeals to both the musician and the music enthusiast.
Thursday, the festival kicks off at the Mary C. Cultural Arts Center in Ocean Springs, where a new wave of artists will be inducted into the Mississippi Songwriters Hall of Fame. This year’s inductees are Howlin Wolf, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters and Glen Ballard. Admission is free, but the event is sold out as of Thursday afternoon.
Friday at the Mary C., Poplarville-turned-world-wide country trio Chapel Hart will rock the stage. Tickets for this show were also free but were sold out as of Thursday afternoon.

Venues throughout Ocean Springs and Gautier will host free performances beginning Thursday night. Just some of the participating locations are Neon Moon, Murky Waters, Lady May, Cornerstone, Fort Maurepas, Julep Room, The Roost and Hickory Hill.
