BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - The city of Biloxi has drawn a new route for two popular Mardi Gras parades.
Both Krewe of Neptune and the Gulf Coast Carnival Association parades will be following the same route in 2025.
The route begins the same way it used to. Floats will travel down Main Street, Lameuse Street, and Martin Luther King Boulevard, but that’s when things change.
The route heads west on Howard Avenue, turns south on Porter Avenue, and ends near Lighthouse Park. This will keep Highway 90 and the I-110 corridor clear and keep the Krewe of Neptune parade from crossing train tracks on Caillavet Street.
Fewer police officers will be needed for the parade as well, leaving them available to patrol the rest of the city.

“Safety is the utmost goal. We want everyone to be safe. Yes, there is always tradition,” Public Affairs Specialist John Majure said. “The Mardi Gras season is a very traditional type of event that we love just as much as anyone and everyone but we are also concerned about our citizens and people who need emergency services. It’s not about money at that point, it’s about the safety of the citizens.”
Richard Landry with the Krewe of Neptune says this is a welcomed change after a train incident during last year’s parade.
WLOX News reached out to the Gulf Coast Carnival Association for a comment but did not receive one.
