The Oaks at Crosby Commons City Park is located downtown at the corner of South Magnolia Street and 6th Avenue.

The land was purchased a few years ago and is now a park with centuries-old live oaks, a new pavilion, and a water feature.

Mayor Jim Luke said the park is in a perfect location, full of history.

“Just think about this corner of history, you got the schools that were built across the street, the first hospital a block away, the second hospital right here where almost 22,000 babies were born. This is a historic corner in Picayune,” said Luke.

The project was funded in part by the Mississippi Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration, the Lower Pearl River Valley Foundation, and The Home Depot Foundation, along with ARPA funds from the City of Picayune.

While the park is open to the public, it is not yet fully complete. City leaders said remaining grant funds will be used to finish the restrooms and other planned amenities in the future.

The park is dedicated to honoring Veterans.
