MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Morris Day and the Time will headline the next MoonPie Over Mobile New Year’s Eve celebration in downtown Mobile.

On Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, downtown Mobile will ring in the new year with the annual MoonPie Over Mobile celebration. The event will feature the signature giant MoonPie drop and live music.

Organizers say this year’s headliner, the legendary Morris Day and The Time, will bring a blend of high-gloss showmanship, infectious energy and Minneapolis funk to the Main Stage to close out the year in style.

The fun kicks off early with the Kids Zone at Mardi Gras Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., including the popular MoonPie Noon Year’s Eve Drop for families at noon. In the evening, the Best Decorated Umbrella Contest returns at 7:30 p.m. in the Renaissance Riverview Plaza Courtyard, complete with a street party performance by The Jukebox Brass Band. After the cutting of the World’s Largest MoonPie, the Jukebox Brass Band will lead a lively second line parade to the Main Stage.

Once the crowd gathers at the Main Stage, city leaders and longtime MoonPie champion Fred Richardson will deliver remarks.

Richardson spoke about the excitement surrounding the announcement.

“That would normally be difficult, but the team that we have here and the board, they pulled it off. We have an outstanding executive board. They ran him down, and he agreed to come. I was surprised myself. It’s going to be a great night,” Richardson said.

The Jukebox Brass Band will officially open the Main Stage. With roots in HBCU marching bands, this ensemble will deliver a bold, modern spin on traditional brass band music, organizers say.

To follow will be Red and The Revelers, a soulful Gulf Coast outfit known for horn-driven rock energy and gritty charisma. This act will be followed by the headliner.

At midnight, the MoonPie drops from the top of the RSA Trustmark Building, joined by a pyro display near the Main Stage, to welcome 2026 with thousands of revelers in the streets.
