BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (WLOX) - A festival of music and small local businesses lined the Driftwood Motel.
Live music, a pool and vendors set the scene for a chance to enjoy the heat.
This is the first year for Driftaplooza as the Driftwood Motel opened in July of 2024.
The two-day event offered the atmosphere of a small music festival, highlighting what the Coast has to offer.
Driftwood Motel co-owner Eugene Schmitt says, “Honestly, we just kind of threw it together. We had an idea to do a music festival in September. There’s not a lot going on. We get kind of a slowdown with back to school and the end of summer. Maybe a month ago or two months ago, we were like ‘Hey, what are we going to do?’, so we put it together.”

Good Earth Records helped present the festival after kickstarting other events in the area.
Good Earth Records Owner and Event Promoter Douglas Page says, “The purpose of this event was just to provide the community with something different. This is the first time we’re doing this event at the Driftwood. The Driftwood is still a new spot, and we’re happy to partner with them.”
Plans are already set for next year’s Driftapalooza Festival.
