BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - A business in historic downtown Biloxi is bringing the taste and vibe of Nashville to the Coast.

Once the chicken hits the grease at Rip’N Hot Chicken, it’s go-time for co-owners Adam Ripmaster and Erin Rose.

“You’ve got your fried chicken, and then the Nashville hot chicken is the ingredients we slather and cover onto the chicken,” said Ripmaster.

Their goal is to give South Mississippi a taste of Nashville, Tennessee.

“We lived in Nashville for over 20 years, became great friends, and then started dating,” said Ripmaster. “We decided to go on a big adventure and move to the Gulf Coast since we have family down here.”

After moving to South Mississippi, Ripmaster and Rose set out to make their dreams a reality.

“We had a dream of bringing Nashville hot chicken — this culinary explosion that has spread across the country — down to the Gulf Coast," said Ripmaster.

The couple said several factors set them apart from other eateries.

“Everything from the brining process to the breading, to the flavors, to the seasonings, and the slather on the chicken. We range from a mild, medium Nashville hot to a burning ring of fire hot,” said Ripmaster.

“We follow the Nashville hot recipes to a ‘T’ from our years of living in Nashville.”

Ripmaster and Rose opened Rip’N Hot Chicken on Rue Magnolia in July.

The couple said that location and style were at the top of their list during the early stages of planning.

“I’ve been coming here for years to visit family, and I know from having seen the devastation of Katrina and seeing the growth coming back and the community coming back alive, that we wanted to be a part of that,” said Ripmaster.

“When we found this building, we fell in love with it.”

Now, with the new layout, there’s an open kitchen, numerous photos, wall décor, and even chicken footprints that lead you into and throughout the restaurant.

“I think you can see who we are with just scanning the walls a little bit. It is fun for people to check out,” said Rose.
