LONG BEACH, Miss. (WLOX) - Car enthusiasts rolled through the streets of Long Beach to celebrate the return of Cruisin’ the Coast.
“It’s awesome just to see all the different people, the variety of vehicles is what makes it so amazing. You can see anything from rat rods to classics, to just cars you’ve never seen,” Stark, Florida native Jamie Clemons said.
The annual parade started at Long Beach High School, rolling through downtown before ending at the harbor for live music.
One cruiser traveled six and a half hours from Florida to experience Cruisin’ the Coast for the first time, and says he hasn’t been disappointed.
“We just seen it advertised and thought it’d be a cool show to go to. We go to the F100 Nationals, and we thought this would be a bigger show, and it definitely is.”

Another cruiser has been making the five-hour drive from Fayattville, Georgia, with his 66′ Mustang Convertible for 10 years.
“I bought this for my wife about four years ago as a Christmas present, and she’s not here. Me and my buddies are here, so we’re driving it,” Fayetteville, Georgia native Bill Farwig said.
Farwig is a Vietnam veteran and says there’s a special community for veterans like him at Cruisin’.
“It’s a lot of fun, a lot of traffic; you gotta learn to live with that, but you see a lot of good people. And myself, being a Vietnam veteran, I see a lot of Vietnam veterans that I can welcome home to come here and we can share our experiences with the cars and what we did back in the old days.”
Whether you’ve experienced Cruisin’ for the first year or 10, both say the camaraderie and the classics will keep them coming back.

“I like all the cars. Fix it the way you want it and ride it. Ride it,” Farwig said.
