MOSS POINT, Miss. (WLOX) - On Tuesday, the city of Moss Point took on Day 3 of Cruisin’ the Coast as the downtown area turned into a large block party, marking the 10th annual Cruisin’ the River City.
Not all cruisers converging on the Coast can say it’s been a tradition since 1997, but for Vancleave resident Bea Harrison, it’s a statement she’s proud to make.
Harrison was there with a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Super SS that her husband and grandson built. She said having the vehicle on display keeps those old memories alive.
“It was fun sometimes, and sometimes I had to get out of the way because I didn’t know what was about to happen, cause it’s kinda stressful sometimes and there’s a lot of tedious work that goes into one of these, but it’s so well worth it,” she said.
Custom rims, polished wheels, and modified engines started lining the streets of downtown Moss Point before dawn, and it didn’t take long for hundreds of car lovers to show up.

“I feel if it was every day, it would be better 365 days of the year,” Mathiston, Miss. resident Gary Gardner said.
Deon Jones arrived whippin’ the wheel of a 1986 Buick Grand National.
“I had been looking for it for years, trying to find the perfect one. Once I found it, I just – I was already in love with it, but I am definitely in love with it now," he said.
Having only owned it for a short time, he’s received quite a lot of attention.
“Everywhere you go, people wave a thumbs up, they want to speak to you, they want you to open the hood, they wanna see this car, and then Kendrick Lamar just made it so much more famous with the song, so now everybody knows what a Grand National is,” Jones said.

For 10 years, the event has gained momentum, and many say this is the place to be for all things Crusin’.
