BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - One business in Biloxi has truly taken it one step at a time to get up and running.
Yul Grace has operated his restaurant, Yul’s Place, for nearly six years. He credits careful financial planning and community support for keeping Yul’s Place open.
“People didn’t make it over these last six years. We’ve been through hurricanes, COVID, the labor crisis; they didn’t make it,” said Grace.
Grace said strategic planning helped the restaurant survive.
“It was a huge challenge to come in because we had to sit down and write down every penny. We had to account for every penny starting this out. Then we had to take baby steps,” said Grace. “You have to make sure you do things the smart way and not rush into something.”

The restaurant sits along the causeway in Biloxi and features bars on both floors, allowing patrons to enjoy outdoor views from multiple levels.
“This view, when you see it from either side of our building, you see it at its best,” said Grace.
The restaurant is known for seafood but also serves barbecue items, including smoked wings, hot honey wings, and pulled pork sandwiches with baked beans and potato salad.

“I love cooking, and people come from all over the country wanting to try our crawfish and our seafood. And now we have our barbecue that is starting to amp up,” said Grace.
With its growing popularity, updates are on the horizon.

Grace said the restaurant has renovations planned for the upstairs area, including changes to the bar and the addition of extra seating. The deck area will also be renovated.

While he looks toward the future, Grace said that running a restaurant depends on community support, and he is grateful for all the support he has received.
“This city has done a lot for us as a family, and I just got a special place in my heart for it,” said Grace.
Yul’s Place is located at 530 Causeway Drive in Biloxi. Grace mentioned that business reaches its peak during crawfish season.
