GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - The world’s largest model train museum is preparing its halls for the holiday season.
TrainTastic in Gulfport is installing lights and decorations to transform into a locomotive winter wonderland with over a million lights.
“We are in full-blown decoration mode right now. The Christmas season is a big time of year for TrainTastic, and there is a certain expectation that we will be well decorated and a lot of fun for families and people who enjoy the Christmas season,” said Bryan Caldwell, TrainTastic director of operations.
Caldwell said one thing visitors don’t want to miss this year is the outdoor train ride.
“Probably the best part of the experience here during the holidays is to see the outdoor decorations that are part of the train ride,” Caldwell said.

Visitors will be able to tour the museum and create a festive craft with a cup of hot chocolate and s’mores. Santa also stops by the museum.
“We have a lot going on in terms of activities,” Caldwell said. “Christmas is our busiest time of the year.”
The holiday light event starts on December 5 and continues through Christmas, with the displays open on Fridays and Saturdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
TrainTastic is located at 615 Pass Road in Gulfport.
