GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - A giant gingerbread house weighing more than 300 pounds is on display at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s (MGCCC) Harrison County Campus.

The house is made with more than 180 pounds of gingerbread and more than 50 pounds of royal icing. Coconut flakes and gelatin sheets help finish the look.

The gingerbread house is the final project for eight students who are part of the restaurant and catering program.

“The gingerbread house was probably the biggest project I have ever worked on,” said Carlee Moore, an MGCCC sophomore. “When you go out and see the really nice hotels and things they can pull off, for us to be able to do that was very rewarding in a professional sense.”

The house took the students approximately one month to design, bake, and build.
