BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - A new Christmas festival will transform Howard Avenue in downtown Biloxi into a winter wonderland.

Christmas on the Avenue takes place from December 18 to 20. Howard Avenue will be decorated with more than 150 lit Christmas trees and will feature live entertainment and artificial snow.

“We have the whole show for you,” said Lauren Broussard with Broussard’s Barber Shop.

On Thursday, December 18, the event will feature yoga in an igloo provided by Serenity Now.

On Friday, December 19, snow will start falling at 6 p.m. along with the grand lighting and visits from Santa. The event will also include live entertainment and a parade that rolls at 6 p.m.

Saturday’s events include a pub crawl and a business crawl. The Humane Society of South Mississippi will also host pet adoptions from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., along with a toy drive for shelter pets.

“We’re planning on bringing 10 adoptables on site, hoping to find them homes for the holidays,” said Katie King with the Humane Society of South Mississippi.

Broussard’s Barber Shop will provide a complimentary scalp treatment to anyone who brings a toy to donate.

The Humane Society will also set up enrichment activities for children to make treats for shelter pets. The Grinch will be available for photos with pets and people, King said.

“We just really want to get our family and friends out there, help support the community, and get some adoptions going,” said Broussard.

“We worked really hard on this, and we can’t wait to celebrate Christmas with you,” said Broussard.
