WAVELAND, Miss. (WLOX) - A family in Waveland is spreading holiday cheer one light at a time with a Christmas display featuring thousands of lights that transforms their home into a winter wonderland.
The Slade family’s house on Edna Street showcases lights dangling from trees, hanging off the house, and sitting on the roof, creating a holiday spectacle that has drawn visitors for nearly two decades.
“This is the best thing ever,” 12-year-old Jaxson Slade said. “It’s just really cool; it just takes a lot of time.”
Theresa Slade said her husband is the mastermind behind the creative display.
“I just started helping this year, and I haven’t realized how much he truly enjoys this,” she said. “He is in his element doing this.”

The display holds special meaning for the family. Bristyl Slade said the display is special.
“It’s special because my grandpa made it, and it’s part of my family, so it’s really special,” she said. “It’s just amazing how he does this.”
The Slade family has been creating holiday light displays for nearly two decades, continuing the tradition even after Hurricane Katrina.
What started as just a few lights on the house 18 years ago now draws visitors every holiday season, and the display continues to grow each year.
There is one weekend left to view the lights: Saturday, December 20, and Sunday, December 21. Both days are from 6 to 8 p.m.
