OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WLOX) - Ocean Springs will host its annual New Year’s Eve celebration Wednesday night in downtown, featuring live music and a ball drop at midnight.

The event begins at 8 p.m. with a stage set up in the center of downtown. Lady Boogie will serve as master of ceremonies, with musical performances by Unfazed Experience and Saint Social.

Local restaurants will also offer their own music and entertainment throughout the night.

“It’s just one of those events where you want to come out, grab a drink, grab something to eat, enjoy live music, and just be with family and friends as we count it down,” said Cynthia Sutton, Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce President and CEO.

The celebration will culminate with a ball drop at midnight. The Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Arts Center built the ball, which features the city logo and “I love OS” logo. The Ocean Springs Fire Department will assist with the ball drop.

Sutton said the chamber expects up to 5,000 people to attend the family-friendly event.

“As the night goes on, more and more people come out, and it just makes it really, really fun,” Sutton said.

Roads will begin closing, and barricades will be set up at noon on Wednesday in preparation for the event. City officials said downtown access will be restricted to emergency personnel and authorized vehicles.
