BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Runners and anyone with a resolution to be more active can take part in the Salvation Army of South Mississippi’s Frosty Kroc Run Saturday morning.

The event includes a 5k run, a 10k run, and a fun run. All three runs will start at the Golden Nugget before turning onto the Biloxi-Ocean Springs Bridge. The 5k and 1 mile races will turn around at different spots on the bridge. The 10k will cross the bridge before turning onto Front Beach Boulevard in Ocean Springs and turning around at Washington Street and heading back to Biloxi.
Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. The races will begin when the starting gun fires at 8:30 a.m.
Major Paul Egan of the Salvation Army of South Mississippi said runners can register in advance or on site Saturday morning.

“You can just show up, but we would love to have folks register beforehand,” Egan said. “We usually probably get about half of our participants that way. That way we make sure that you got a good packet ready for you. You can stop by over at the Kroc Center in Biloxi on Division Street, or show up there at the Golden Nugget on the morning of.”
Registration costs $20 for adults and $15 for participants 17 years old and younger.
According to Egan, the money raised will go toward scholarships that allow children to attend Kroc Center programs when they can’t afford it.
“Whenever they want to come and be part of our after school program or summer day camps or our day camps throughout the year, this helps to support them and to be able to, if they can’t afford to make it, that we can take care of them,” Egan said.
Egan said this is the first of many events the Salvation Army holds throughout the year.
