GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - A Pine Belt bakery sold out of king cakes within an hour on Wednesday morning after setting up shop on the Mississippi Coast.
Loblolly Bakery sold king cakes outside The Downtowner site off Highway 49 in Gulfport. The bakery began selling at 10 a.m., but some customers said they lined up more than an hour in advance.
The bakery offered king cakes in four flavors: cream cheese, cinnamon, blueberry, and pecan praline. All 75 cakes were sold within an hour.
“It has been awesome seeing the crowd here,” said Andrew Stayer, Loblolly shipping and logistics manager. “It’s beautiful seeing something like that in a place that is an hour and a half away from Hattiesburg. I’m glad to see that our name is getting around that well.”
The king cakes are also available at the Hard Rock Cafe in Biloxi.
