MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The Budweiser Clydesdales are making a special appearance at USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park this week as part of Mardi Gras festivities.
The famous horses will be available for public viewing from Tuesday through Saturday. Visitors can see the Clydesdales by paying the $5 admission fee to the park. Viewing hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., except on Wednesday, when hours are 10 a.m. to noon.
Residents took advantage of the early opportunity to see the horses, including Michelle Farrell, who brought her daughter.
“They’re just so beautiful. I’ve always wanted to see them. You know, you see them on Facebook all the time or in the commercials. You’re like, gosh, that would be so cool to see in person. So as soon as I saw the Facebook announcement that they’re going to be here, I’m like, Oh, I’m totally going,” Farrell said.
Morning fog enhanced the viewing experience for visitors.

“You know, you’re thinking, Oh, it’s foggy. What a nasty day, but when they’re walking out in the field, and you see them coming through the fog, it makes it even more pretty to see, especially for pictures. So, it was the fog actually making it better. Never thought I would say that,” Farrell said.
“It is so neat to see in person for real, like, I’m glad we came out here,” she said.
The Clydesdales will also appear in several Mardi Gras parades, including the Order of Athena parade on Fat Tuesday.
