BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - The Second Liners Mardi Gras Club will host its annual parade Saturday in downtown Biloxi, featuring beads, bands, and floats.
The event has grown from a small children’s event to a popular carnival tradition, Pinkey Lewis of the Second Liners Mardi Gras Club said.
“Started out with kids with bikes and wagons, and now we’re up to floats and cars and bands,” Lewis said.
Yolanda Green, also with the Second Liners Mardi Gras Club, said the event differs from New Orleans second lines by focusing on community involvement.
“The similarity might be just having a good time,” Green said. “The difference is a community project. Second Liners started out with the community project of doing parades for the kids, and we’ve just continued that tradition on.”

Several high school bands will participate in the parade, including Moss Point High School. The parade will conclude with a second line featuring a brass band.
The parade will begin at noon on February 14.
