Moss Point native advances to ‘American Idol’ Top 30

MOSS POINT, Miss. (WLOX) - Daniel Stallworth, a Moss Point native, advanced to the Top 30 on “American Idol” Monday night.

Stallworth performed “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King, drawing praise from the judges.

“To take a song that we have heard so many times and to just take it to the rafters of this place, you are a truly special person,” judge and country star Luke Bryan said.

Stallworth, who is now a music teacher, was among 127 contestants who competed during Hollywood Week for a spot in the Top 30. With his advancement secured, he will move on to the ‘Ohana Round.

The Top 30 will perform in Hawaii for their families, industry leaders, and fellow contestants. Only 20 will advance at the end of the round.
