X Games championship coming to Caesars Superdome in New Orleans in July

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Caesars Superdome will host the first-ever X Games Championship July 24-26, the X Games and the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation announced.

The event serves as the final stop of the inaugural 2026 MoonPay X Games League Summer Season and will feature 18 competitions across skateboarding, BMX and Moto X.

The three-day event will run July 24-26.

Kevin Peraza, a two-time X Games medalist, has competed in BMX since age 15. The 31-year-old said he is prepared to compete inside the stadium.

“I do flips and spoons and technical tricks on it, progressing the board and pushing the impossible boundaries of what people can imagine,” Peraza said.

Reese Nelson, 13, made her skateboarding debut in 2023. She said competing at the venue carries personal significance.

“It’s like a privilege. This has been like my dream was always to compete in X Games and skateboard in front of other people because I just love skateboarding,” Nelson said.

X Games CEO Jeremy Bloom said New Orleans is the right location for the organization’s first championship. He said the new league addresses a gap for action sports athletes.

“I think the athletes have deserved a professional league for a really long time, and we’re excited to be the sports brand to bring that,” Bloom said.

Bloom added that some X Games athletes have followings of 20 million people.

The league’s summer season opens in June in Sacramento before concluding in New Orleans in July.

New Orleans and Company CEO Walt Leger said the event’s timing benefits the city.

“We are constantly working to bring a diverse group of meetings events to the city to impact the community and the economy in a diverse way, so being able to win and competing in an event like this at the end of July it’s just a big win for the city,” Leger said.

Leger noted that July is typically a slow month for New Orleans.
