MOSS POINT, Miss. (WLOX) - Daniel Stallworth, a Moss Point native and elementary school music teacher, advanced to the Top 20 on “American Idol” Monday night.
The field was cut from 30 contestants during a round held in Hawaii, where Stallworth performed “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus. The audience included contestants’ families, industry leaders, and fellow hopefuls.

Moving forward, viewers will help determine the contestants’ fate in the first round of public voting.
Moss Point Mayor Billy Knight voiced support for Stallworth ahead of the next round.
“The next time around, there is going to be voting, so we encourage everyone to vote for him,” Knight said.
