PICAYUNE, Miss. (WLOX) - Picayune Theatre Company is staging “Legally Blonde: The Musical” at two venues this month, with performances in Gulfport and Hattiesburg.

The production runs March 19-20 at the Saenger Theatre in Hattiesburg. It then moves to the Immersive Media Performing Arts Center (iMPAC) in Gulfport on March 27-28.

Abby Unbehagen, who plays Paulette, said the show draws on the style and themes familiar to fans of the film.

Mollie McCarroll, who plays Brooke Windham, said the cast pulled inspiration from both the original movie and the Broadway version of the show.

“The movie is so iconic, so I feel like we all kind of pull from those characters and from the original Broadway version as well,” McCarroll said.

McCarroll described the production as a comedy-driven show with a diverse cast.

“This is truly just a funny show,” McCarroll said. “It’s been great to be on stage with people that I have never met before, and some that are familiar to me.”
