PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. (WLOX) - The Krewe of Blarney will hold its 31st annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Pass Christian on Saturday, March 14, at 1 p.m.
The krewe was organized in 1995 by a small group of men who wanted to celebrate Irish heritage in Pass Christian, according to Michael Broussard, a krewe member.
The parade is modeled after the Pete Fountain Half-Fast Walking Club in New Orleans and is described as the only Gulf Coast traditional walking St. Patrick’s Day parade. There are no floats.

The parade lineup includes the Boy Scouts, bagpipe players, the Pass Christian High School Band, and the Bay Ratz. Golf carts and classic cars will also be a part of the celebration.
“It is so different from a Mardi Gras parade. We want the community to be up close and personal with us,” Broussard said.

Krewe members said the event is focused on community involvement, and spectators are encouraged to be close to the procession.
“When you come to the Pass Christian St. Patrick’s Day Parade, you are part of the parade,” Broussard said. “You’re right there with it.”
The parade also includes toasts at stops along the route to highlight local businesses.

The parade begins at 2nd Street and Davis Avenue. Marchers will line up along Davis Avenue before stepping off at 1 p.m.
The route goes to Scenic Drive and ends at Bacchus on the Beach.

“At the end of the parade, where Bacchus is, we have a little street party, and we partner with Bacchus and get some food out and stuff like that. And it’s really a family day,” Krewe member David Goff said.
