MOSS POINT, Miss. (WLOX) — Moss Point’s Daniel Stallworth will return to the American Idol stage next week after the show postponed its elimination round Monday night.

Stallworth performed “Brighter Days” by Blessing Offor during the episode. The performance drew praise from judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan.

“I feel like we are watching you get into a more comfortable, fun space. I love that you picked a more up-tempo, groovy song,” Underwood said.

Richie said Stallworth has “the ability to tell a story and then move the crowd.”

“You got me in the spirit,” Bryan said.

Host Ryan Seacrest announced at the end of the show that no contestants would be eliminated after the voting system was overwhelmed by responses. Voting was available through text, online, and social media.

“They handed me the card, and they said there’s no results on that card for you to reveal because there’s so many coming in for social vote, and to get it right, we’ve got to push it to next week,” Seacrest said.

The show opened with 20 finalists, which were reduced to 14 based on prior voting. With no eliminations announced, all 14 contestants will return next week.

Next week’s episode will feature contestants performing music from the 1990s.
