BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) — The U.S. Air Force Band will make its way through the southern U.S. for a special tour. The Airmen of Note will bring jazz to the Biloxi Civic Center, honoring the service of airmen both past and present.
The Airmen of Note is celebrating its 76th year and is the direct descendant of Major Glenn Miller’s Army Air Force Dance Band.
“We take that heritage very seriously,” said Chief Master Sergeant Brian MacDonald of the Air Force’s premier jazz ensemble. “The Airmen of Note proudly honors those who have served and are serving currently in the Air Force and across the Armed Forces.”

The ensemble tours the nation twice a year. This spring, the band will perform in Arkansas, New Orleans, Hattiesburg, and Biloxi.
“Biloxi is certainly no stranger to an Air Force community,” said MacDonald.

The Air Force Band conducts a nationwide search for talent through auditions similar to major orchestra auditions. The musicians are professionals and experts in their field.
“They may have to perform in the inaugural parade or at the Pentagon or for heads of state, and just play at the absolute highest level. So we come in fully trained and ready to go,” said MacDonald.
The Hattiesburg performance is on Wednesday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m. The Biloxi performance is Thursday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m.
Both concerts are free to the public. Tickets are available online.
