GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) — The hotel attached to Gulfport’s mixed-use town center, called Channel South, will be a Marriott Tribute Hotel.
The hotel will be called Hotel Holden, Channel South announced in a Facebook post Thursday.
According to Channel South, the waterfront hotel will be inspired by Gulfport’s “coastal legacy” and designed “to create a destination rooted in story, atmosphere, and experience.”


The hotel will include a rooftop venue overlooking Jones Park and the Harbor.

Marriott Tribute Portfolio hotels, according to the company, are described as “hotels with character” that will give guests a stay worth talking about. The company has locations around the world, including 107 in North America, 44 in Europe, 32 in Asia, seven in South America, five in Central America and the Caribbean, five in the Middle East, and four in Africa.

Channel South broke ground on March 20. The $105 million mixed-use development project is expected to open in August 2027.

The center will include apartments, street-level dining and shopping and more, bringing between 125 and 175 temporary construction jobs and around 75 new hospitality jobs to the city, according to developers.
The site is located at Highway 90 (Beach Boulevard) and Highway 49 (25th Avenue).
