New Orleans Pride parade, festival return to French Quarter Saturday

NOLA Pride Parade celebrations kick off in full swing The pride celebrations are in full swing and making is return this weekend is the New Orleans Pride Parade.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The annual Pride parade and Pridefest, celebrating the LGBTQ community, will take place on Saturday in the French Quarter.

The parade begins at 6 p.m. Saturday and runs through 8 p.m. Lineup starts at 5 p.m. near Armstrong Park on North Rampart Street.

The parade route starts on North Rampart Street near Armstrong Park and travels downriver before turning right on Esplanade Avenue, then right on Royal Street, right on St. Louis Street, right on Burgundy Street, right on St. Ann Street, left on Bourbon Street and left on Dumaine Street. The parade ends near the starting point on North Rampart.

Pridefest, a block party on North Rampart near the Phoenix Bar at 941 Elysian Fields Ave., runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. The event includes food vendors, merchandise booths, community organization tables and outdoor entertainment. Tony and The Kiki, a glam rock band from Queens, New York, performs at 9 p.m.

Saturday’s Pridefest is free. An opening reception takes place at 6 p.m. Thursday at Ruby Slipper restaurant, 2001 Burgundy St. A pool party and tea dance is scheduled for noon Sunday at The Railyard Nola, 710 Poland Ave. Both events require tickets.

Black Queer Community Fest, which celebrates the city’s Black LGBTQ community, runs Thursday through Sunday. The festival includes mixers, a queer legacy summit, pool parties and a gospel drag brunch at the Dew Drop.

The festival’s krewe will participate in the parade route Saturday. A separate event takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday in Armstrong Park, featuring live music performances, DJs, food trucks and art vendors.

Bourbon Pub & Parade, 801 Bourbon St., hosts drag shows. Reservations are required for drag shows and birthday celebrations.

Cafe Lafitte in Exile, 901 Bourbon St., has operated since 1933 and is the oldest continuously operating gay bar in the United States. The bar is open 24 hours daily.

Corner Pocket, 940 St. Louis St., features dancers on the bar nightly. The bar is open noon to 2 a.m. daily.

The Country Club, 634 Louisa St., offers poolside drink service and drag brunch. Reservations are required.

Crossing, 901 St. Louis St., serves food and drinks from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily, with extended hours until 2 a.m. Thursday and Friday. The bar offers happy hour prices from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

The Golden Lantern, 1239 Royal St., operates 24 hours daily and also features “Liquid Brunch” with deals on Bloody Marys, mimosas, champagne and wines.

Good Friends, 740 Dauphine St., is open 24 hours Wednesday through Sunday, 1 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday and 1 p.m. to midnight Tuesday.

Le Cabaret, 834 N. Rampart St., formerly GrandPre’s, hosts a variety of entertainment, including themed drag performances, comedy acts and weekly drag bingo. The venue also features a patio and cocktail menu.

Oz, 800 Bourbon St., is a dance club with events nightly featuring drag performers and DJs. The club offers karaoke, open talent night and comedy night. Oz is open from 6 p.m. until close Monday through Wednesday, and from 1 p.m. until close Thursday through Sunday.

The Page, 542 N. Rampart St., is a Black-owned bar that offers daily happy hours and craft cocktails.

The Phoenix, 941 Elysian Fields Ave., is open 24 hours daily. The bar offers $5 Bloody Marys and $4 Korbel mimosas from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Qi Qi, 2021 Foucher St., offers daily drink specials and a lineup of events throughout June, including drag shows, trivia, live music and bingo. The Uptown bar will host Veva’s Big Drag Night beginning at 9:30 p.m. June 14.

Rawhide Lounge, 740 Burgundy St., features pool tables and a jukebox. The bar is open 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily.
