BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) — For gearheads all over the country, Scrapin the Coast isn’t just a car show; it’s a can’t-miss weekend tradition.
The Mississippi Coast Coliseum was packed for Day 1, wall-to-wall with lowriders, custom trucks, ATVs and one-of-a-kind builds you won’t see anywhere else.

“I’m all about the custom side of things, and you know, that’s really what we’re excited to be able to walk around and look at this weekend,” first-time attendee Tom Fiebelkorn said.
Tom Fiebelkorn drove from Fort Myers, Florida, to see Scrapin the Coast for the first time, showing off his 2024 Ford F-350, built to turn heads from bumper to tailgate.
“We’ve put our thoughts and ideas to paper, I guess, and we kind of made it happen,” Fiebelkorn said.

Fiebelkorn and his family are regulars at car shows, a tradition he’s proud to pass down from one generation to the next.
“My wife’s involved in it, my daughter’s involved in it, and she’s excited,” Fiebelkorn said. “She’s getting a little older, and one day, she’ll have the keys to this truck, and that’s what she’s excited about, and we do it as a family.”
For Stephen Chatman, coming back was never a question.

“We became friends with people we’ve never met before, but other than that, just everything that goes on from outside to inside; it’s something to come experience,” Chatman said.

For Chatman and Fiebelkorn, the shine and horsepower matter, but the connections matter more.
“Seeing the little kids going around here and looking at the vehicles and seeing somebody smile, that’s my biggest joy, you know?” Chatman said.
“It’s all about shaking hands and having conversations with people, you know; that’s the best thing about coming to these events,” Fiebelkorn said.

“From lowriders to the built-up trucks, to the ATVs, you name it, all of us have a different vision,” Chatman said.
At Scrapin the Coast, every vision gets its moment, and for the fans, it’s what keeps them coming back.
The event continues through Sunday afternoon at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
