BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) — Morgan Freeman’s Symphonic Blues Experience is coming to the Mississippi Gulf Coast next month, blending live music with immersive video exploring the origins and cultural impact of the blues.
Ground Zero Blues Club owners Morgan Freeman and Eric Meier said the show combines a symphonic performance with the history of the genre.
Meier said the performance is a homecoming for the Mississippi-based club.
“This is a born and bred experience,” Meier said. “So it’s kind of a homecoming. It’s an opportunity to expose this rich history of the blues and kind of come back and play for the home team.”
Freeman said the show introduces new audiences to both genres.

“For people who have not really experienced the blues, that’s going to be a new experience right there,” Freeman said. “And a lot of people will come who are interested in the blues, but will get this symphony experience. Then there are a lot of people who are symphony lovers who will get this new blues experience.”
The show has received positive feedback from audiences across the country and internationally.
“We want to make sure we bring this experience back to the Coast,” Meier said.
The Morgan Freeman Symphonic Blues Experience is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the iMPAC Center on the campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Gulfport.
