PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WLOX) — A ceremony was held at River Park to unveil new trailheads at stops along the Pascagoula blueway.
The trailheads provide a map of the trails with points of interest, parking, restaurants and more.
The goal is to make traversing the waterways easier for those who enjoy them.
Darcie Young, Ward 3 councilwoman and paddling enthusiast, said being on the water is one of the greatest things about living in Pascagoula.
“We are surrounded by three sides with water,” Young said. “We have Krebs Lake, the Pascagoula River, and of course the Mississippi Sound. We have such a vast amount of opportunity to access the water that most communities don’t have.”

The trailheads also feature stories about local history, giving waterfarers the ability to learn about the areas they’re enjoying.
