BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) — Volunteers are already getting ready for the 30th anniversary of Cruisin’ the Coast (CTC).
More than 200 volunteers gathered at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum Convention Center Saturday for the annual packing party. They filled 11,000 welcome bags with everything from hat pins and window stickers to programs and swap meet tickets.
Organizers said that’s a thousand more bags than last year, as registration is already running about 800 vehicles ahead of this time last year.
“We can do this in about six to seven hours, and we could not do that without all these volunteers. It would be impossible for us to be able to pack 11,000 bags. So we’re very thankful for all that they do for us and making Cruising the Coast what it is,” Rob Sigler, the CTC registration director, said.
Cruisin’ the Coast began in 1996 and returns to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in just a few weeks. Organizers are always looking for more volunteers
