GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - Classic cars and vintage rides filled the Hardy Court Shopping Center in Gulfport Sunday morning for the annual Hardy Court Cruise-In.
The event is one of the oldest traditions surrounding Cruisin’ the Coast. It began before it was an official Cruisin’ event.
What started as a place for early-bird cruisers to park, show off their rides and hang out before the official festivities began has since become a cruising tradition of its own.
Rain did not keep cruisers away.
“It did this last year, too, and I was sitting right here last year and got rained on, so it doesn’t matter. I’m gonna still come out regardless. I’m so proud to be a member of Cruisin’, you know, the 30th anniversary of Cruisin’ and everything. I come every year, regardless whether I’m sick or able or not. As long as I can get this truck out, I’m coming,” said William McCardle, a cruiser.

“I mean, we’ve been wet before, you know. This is kind of the territory. Last year, we like to drown it out here on the rain,” said Stephen Byrd, a cruiser from Alabama.
“He won’t melt,” said Carol Byrd, a cruiser from Alabama.
Even with rain on the windshields, there was no dampening the enthusiasm for the classic rides.
