LONG BEACH, Miss. (WLOX) — Cars of all kinds rolled down Jeff Davis Avenue for the Long Beach Show and Shine, from classic colors to a bright yellow school bus. Each car comes with plenty of history.

Henry Spears owns a 1956 Chevrolet two-door 210 Delray.
“It’s a 1956 two-door 210 Delray. I’ve owned the car for 50 years. I bought just the body and a shell for $30,” Spears said.

Spears spent years customizing the shell, adding features like electric seats and windows. He has been part of Cruisin’ for 25 years and said he enjoys meeting new people.
“We come to Long Beach just about every time we come down. It’s a good place to visit. A lot of friendly people. It makes a difference,” Spears said.

A family tradition
Johnny Craft brought his 1935 Ford five-window coupe to the coast from Collins. Craft’s sister introduced him to Cruisin’ four years ago, and it has since become an annual tradition for him.
“It’s my favorite thing to do every year,” Craft said.

Craft’s Ford still runs on its original engine.
“One of the unique features, it has what they call a smoker’s glass. And when you start to roll it down, it goes backwards right here instead of down,” Craft said.
Craft said the car’s rumble seat works for his family today.

“I’ve got six grandkids, and five of them are girls, and I put as many of them back there as I can, and we ride around and have a good time,” Craft said.
