D’IBERVILLE, Miss. (WLOX) — Autocross is underway at the Scarlet Pearl Casino, marking the twelfth year the event has been part of the Cruisin’ the Coast festivities.

The event invites all registered cruisers to drive a cone-lined track. Autocross President Brian Finch said it is open to anyone.

“The great thing about autocross is you can do it with anything from a rental car to a Volkswagen to a fully prepped race car,” Finch said.

During Cruisin’ 2025, Autocross gave 1,315 rides. Organizers are hoping to beat that number this year.

“We’re expecting to run thousands of people through this over the next three days,” Finch said.

The event is free for anyone who wants to watch or join as a passenger. Participants sign up, sign a waiver, and are placed with one of the group’s professional drivers.

Julie Sandner is celebrating her first Cruisin’ the Coast and said it won’t be her last after taking a ride.

“I grew up in the muscle car era, right? But to ride like that...It’s incredible,” Sandner said.

The event provides a contained environment for people to have fun and test their speed.

“It’s a safe place to come out and just have some fun and get the adrenaline going, and it’s awesome,” said Krysta Campbell, of D’Iberville.
