BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - The 1966 blue Mustang may distract you with the shiny chrome rims, but this car holds lots of memories.

17-year cruiser Richard Baldini III says, “When I was born, I came home from the hospital in this car. It’s a family project that we got 2000 plus hours restoring it and getting it ready and we enjoy coming to Cruisin’ the Coast.”

One cruiser from Kentucky enjoying Cruisin’ the Coast for the first time could not believe the stretch of the Coast was all dedicated to the cars.

First-time cruiser Shannon Anderson says, “He’s been trying to tell me, ‘Hey, it’s 35 miles of a car show’, and I’m like I can’t comprehend because I’m 35 miles away from Louisville. So I’m like, ‘Are you talking about a car show from where I live all the way until where Louisville is?’”

Others have been pro-cruisers for several years now, still not missing a chance to reminisce on the cars in the past, even the police cars.

15-year cruiser Perry Rushing says, “It brings back memories. I’m in law enforcement and have been for the last 46 years so when I started my career I drove a Ford very similar to this right here.”

With most cruisers coming from out of state, there are still reminders of childhood within the cars no matter where you are from.

One cruiser from Tennessee remembers their father’s 1971 Pontiac Grand Prix.

First-time cruiser Marc Anthony says, “So I just have that little, certain little feeling about being a little kid on the back seat riding in that car. So, every time I see it I’m like, ‘Yeah, that’s the car, right?’”

It all goes to show how something simple, or not so simple, like a restored car can bring people from all over to one place to share that common memory or interest.
