Behind the Business: The Beauty Hub

WIGGINS, Miss. (WLOX) - A new business in Wiggins, The Beauty Hub, offers a wide range of services.

Owner Kyra Jackson has been working around the clock to fill her new salon space with nothing but comfort and style.

“I was ready, as soon as the land was clear, I was like I want the building tomorrow,” said Jackson.

The salon is located at 1530 New Hope Road.

‘It was important for me to build something here, this is where I’m from, especially with it being Black owned, we need something like this here," said Jackson.

Jackson said it took roughly three years to open the salon after obtaining her cosmetology license.

“I was like, if I’m going to do this, I’m going to need my license. So that kind of pushed me to take it more seriously,” said Jackson. “I went to Blue Cliff College in Gulfport. It’s a great program where I met a lot of people and learned a lot of new things.”

Now Jackson has been perfecting her craft, offering an array of services from locs to full wig units, and even esthetician services.

Jackson said it is hard work, but worth it.

“It’s scary sometimes, and I have my slow days,” said Jackson. “Some days I’m a full house and some days it’s just me, but you have to have faith and know that the next day is going to be better.”

Jackson said opening The Beauty Hub would not be possible without her significant other, who truly believed in her dream.

“He invested in all of this, and I’m very thankful for him. All of the planning and financial stuff that’s been all him.”

Jackson is already planning to expand in the future, with hopes of opening salons in other states.
