Coast female DJs serve up high energy shows

GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - You’ve heard of a soiree? This is a Soi-Rave.

Your female DJs include Sadie Hebert, AKA DJ Sabr, and Lutfiya Miller, AKA DJ Fiya. They’re part of a female DJ group that performs around the region, with their most recent gig in Gulfport at Club Thirty IV.

“It started during COVID. We started having house parties. We ended up getting equipment and CDJs,” Hebert said. “We had them for about six months, and then I decided that I wanted to try this. I was addicted from that day on. Coming from an IT background, there was a lot of overlap that I didn’t realize.”

Lutfiya was into toxicology... Now, she and the others are mixing up beats in all types of genres.

“My husband, he’s a DJ. He taught me back in COVID when it all started,” Miller said. “I could’ve never imagined anything like this, and I’m so grateful for everybody coming together and I feel like I got to be a part of it.”

They’re all part of a growing trend of female DJ’s.

“I will be turning 50 this year,” Hebert added. “People that know me understand why I’m doing this... Others say I’m doing everything backwards, but I love it.”
